Preserved exactly as they were left the day that the founders retired, the offices of Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard are a real life reminder of the history of one of the great entrepreneurial ventures of our time. I got the opportunity to explore their offices during a quick break from a meeting with some of the great people at HP Labs. As an added bonus, all the conference rooms were booked, so we had the pleasure of meeting in the original executive board room, which is adjacent to the founders’ offices.

I can’t imagine a cooler place to have a meeting.

Interesting sidenote: The day he left, Hewlett had some change in his top drawer, which his secretary told him he better take along. According to lore, he said “Nah, it’ll be gone by tomorrow.” The change is still sitting on top of his desk, now joined by currencies from around the world, left by visitors since.

Great shots and writeup, S. I’m jealous.

  2. Aaron Mentele

Awesome. I want my basement to look like this.

Fantastic stuff! Only a small percent of my apartment looks like this, clashing loudly with the majority that doesn’t.

So cool! Best part about this: almost perpendicular placement of objects on Packard’s desk.

Any sentence with alliteration that good is worth saying twice.

I love the magazine rest within the top of the coffee table. Genius! Great shots, Stefan. These kick ass.

    the energy filling-up these rooms has pinged my laptop. . . . I think it moved . . .

These photos are great — just about as good as seeing it in person. Very cool to see it through your lens.

I love the rich color tones. Give it 10 years…this sort of stuff will be back in style (if it isn’t already).

These are really cool Stefan….when were you out there?
