A few shots from our first weeks with Paetra. We picked her up outside of Philadelphia (thank you, credit card miles!) and drove her home over the course of two days. She’s a complete sweetie.
Paetra is a Bergamasco Sheepdog, a 2,000 year old breed from the Italian Alps. In a few years, she’ll look like this.

Preserved exactly as they were left the day that the founders retired, the offices of Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard are a real life reminder of the history of one of the great entrepreneurial ventures of our time. I got the opportunity to explore their offices during a quick break from a meeting with some of the great people at HP Labs. As an added bonus, all the conference rooms were booked, so we had the pleasure of meeting in the original executive board room, which is adjacent to the founders’ offices.
I can’t imagine a cooler place to have a meeting.
Interesting sidenote: The day he left, Hewlett had some change in his top drawer, which his secretary told him he better take along. According to lore, he said “Nah, it’ll be gone by tomorrow.” The change is still sitting on top of his desk, now joined by currencies from around the world, left by visitors since.
